For years a culinary magnet for locals and guests alike – right at the top stations of the Zillstatt and Gatterl surface lifts, at 1,300 m. Known for outstanding cooking and warm-hearted service, set in stylish surroundings with a unique collection of historic winter sports posters. Our hundred-year-old Jägerstube, the enclosure with fallow deer and rustic bunk beds for the night give the house its very own character.

More Than Mountain Fare
Surprisingly varied, always freshly cooked and homemade: we bake our bread in the wood-fired oven. Vegetables, herbs, flowers and berries come from our own garden. We gather mushrooms in the surrounding forests, and our lamb and fallow deer are raised by ourselves.
Straight Up from the Wildalpgatterl
The Wildalpgatterl as a starting point for beautiful walking tours:
- Henne via ferrata – an easy 2 hours
- Marokka via ferrata – an easy 2 hours
- Wildsee with the Wildseeloder summit – an easy 1.5 to 2 hours
- Hoher Mahdstein – an easy 3 hours
- Gebra, Bischof – Fieberbrunner Höhenweg, 6–8 hours
- Wildseeloder – Blumenweg, 4 hours
- Lauchsee – 1.5 hours
Discovering the Gatterl by Mountain Bike
You can reach us by bike as well – on a mountain bike or e-bike it takes about an hour, depending on the route. Three ways up:
- From Fieberbrunn via Lauchsee and Zillstatt to the Wildalpgatterl.
- From the car park of the Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn via the Streuböden mid-station to the Wildalpgatterl.
- From Fieberbrunn towards Eiserne Hand to the Lärchfilzhochalm along the Jägersteig – or, for the ambitious, via the Wildalm and Wildalphöhe and down through the Kühweital to the Wildalpgatterl.
Skis On – Into the Snow
In the middle of the ski area, at 1,300 m above sea level, the Wildalpgatterl has been a place of longing for many years. The mountain inn brings together a feeling for art, tradition and shelter – grown slowly, rebuilt with care, furnished with love. To live and preserve warmth of heart is the philosophy of our house.
Experience true mountain hut romance: the magic of a moonlit winter night, warmth and shelter while the snow storms outside. Or carve down untouched slopes early in the morning, before breakfast, as the very first one out.
Staying the Night in Style
… in small but cosy hut chambers with bunk beds, shower and WC. They offer room for 19 people in two double rooms, one triple room and three four-bed rooms.
Price on request. The price is per person and night and includes the local tax, a hearty mountain breakfast and a multi-course dinner. Reductions for children: up to 2 years 100 %, up to 6 years 50 %, up to 10 years 30 %.
We take care of the luggage transport from the mid-station up to the hut. Last gondola in summer: 5.30 p.m., in winter: 4.30 p.m.
Alpine Life on the Wildalm
Our Wildalm, at 1,579 metres at the foot of the Wildseeloder, has been brought back to life over the past years with a great deal of effort. The result is a place to experience of a very special kind.
The cheese: In the small Wildalm dairy we make the finest Tyrolean premium mountain cheese from Wildalm milk every day, matured for 12 months in a natural cellar dating from the 18th century.
The whey: What is left over from making cheese is the valuable basis for Schotten, also known as ricotta. It can be enjoyed fresh or smoked, then grated over pasta like parmesan. Available on site or at the Wildalpgatterl.
The art: Our small gallery shows contemporary art. The Almkino screens nostalgic films.
The antiquarian bookshop: a unique collection of thousands of old books, to browse and to buy – all of it by a cosy open fire.
The party: the Wildalm can also be rented for celebrations and festivities. Enquiries at the Wildalpgatterl.
Remise am Reitl
An utterly peaceful hideaway in the middle of nature: the Reitl estate lies on a plateau above Fieberbrunn, not far from the Lauchsee. On 90 m² of newly built living space with large windows and a spacious loggia you enjoy a wonderful view of forests, meadows and the surrounding mountains.
In winter there is plenty of snow – perfect for romping about, tobogganing or building a snow cave. The Remise am Reitl offers exclusive comfort with great attention to detail.
